Word from the Word

Here is a verse I am memorizing this week.  Just thought I would share it.
All scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.

Rabbit Rescue

Here are some pictures of some little bunnies that just came into our lives.  Nic and Eli rescued them.

The other night at open gym,  Eli and Nic and Olivia were playing in a field behind the gym.  Ethan and I were inside playing basketball and Mom and Dad were outside watching the little kids.  Eli spotted some little rabbits.  There were 4, but one was lying on the ground, dead.  Eli and Nic picked up two.  The bunnies were all little and didn't have a mom.  Nic and Eli begged Mom and Dad to take them home and care for them.  They agreed, and my mom, dad, Olivia and Nic and Eli went to Wal-Mart and bought a cage and puppy replacement milk.  (Another little boy took home the third one.)  Mom said from the beginning that we could only keep them for a little while to help them get bigger and stronger.  She said as soon as they were big enough to fend for themselves we would have to let them go.

When we got home that night we tried to feed them.  We gave them romaine lettuce and puppy replacement milk.

We were worried the bunnies were not going to make it through the night but when we got up the next morning they were alive.

We named the bunnies Buck and Emily.  Olivia chose Emily, and we named the other one Buck because he was so wild.  We don't know if they were really a boy and a girl, we just guessed.

Very soon they began eating, a lot!  We gave them milk and lettuce and strawberries.
We had so much fun with the bunnies.  My Dad started looking up plans on how to build a rabbit hutch and thought that might be a good project for us boys.

Then I did a little research on the internet and found out that you are not supposed to pick up a wild bunny, and that they can carry diseases, and even lice.  I also read that they should be left alone and they cannot be kept as pets.  It is illegal to keep them without a permit.  Once my mom read it she said we couldn't keep them and she said we would need to let them go.

(It was really hard for Eli to let them go)

Olivia cried as she said goodbye to Emily.
She was so sad.  She loved Emily.

After we sat them down in the woods Buck took off up the hill but Emily stayed and made a nest right where she was.
We are so glad God blessed us with the chance to help these little bunnies.  If it wasn't for us they might have died.  Now the bunnies are living safely right down the road.  It was fun taking care of the bunnies and I think we learned something too.  It was great for Eli and Nic and they did an excellent job taking care of the little rabbits.  There is a nice wooded area at the lake we live near and they will be very happy there.  Mom assured Eli and Olivia that we would come back and that we would see them again.

Isn't it neat how God gives us animals?  They are so fun to take care of and love!

Ethan's Growth Spurt

For those of you who haven't seen Ethan in a while,
He has grown tremendously!!!!!!  You might not believe what you're about to see, but a picture doesn't lie.  : )

And by the way I'm 5ft 8in and I'm his "BIG" brother.

I'm just joking, but Ethan is taller than me.  Here are some real pictures.

Summer Visitors!!

God has blessed us this summer with LOTS of visitors!!!  Our family loves to have our house full of people and boy has it been!!   Even though we have moved to a new city we have still been able to spend time with our old friends.   Fortunately, Chattanooga is only 2 hours south of Knoxville so our friends have been able to come down.  (And Sissy made the 8 hour trip from Harrisonburg, VA!)

Here is a verse our family really likes to remember, although we may not always do that perfectly!!!

1 Peter 4:9  Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.

Davis Days... The Sequel!!

Davis came to visit again!!  For 5 days we had 5boys here, and 1 girl of course.  Actually, the first day we had other friends here so it was 9 kids, (the 5 of us, Davis and 3 other friends, the Ropers!!!)  We had a blast!  Davis came on a Wednesday and was supposed to go home Friday but we talked mom into letting him stay until Saturday and then she surprised us with letting him stay until Sunday.  Here are pictures...

Making homemade stuffed crust pizza...
FARKLE!!

And of course sometimes we played with Olivia!!  PLAY DOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We spent our days playing cards and FARKLE and swimming and playing soccer and biking and most of all EATING.  Mom said by the time our 5 day sleepover was over she was exhausted and broke, which meant us kids had a great time.  THANKS MOM!!

On a serious note, I am happy to report that Davis' dad, Mr. Mike is doing well.  We have prayed for him and a whole lot of other people have too and God has heard our prayers and given much grace to The Hearn Family.  Mr. Mike just finished his first round of chemo and radiation and the doctors at Duke said he is doing well and his MRI was beautiful!  GO GOD!!

A Word From the Word

I have memorized a lot of scripture over the summer.   Here is a verse I just memorized this week.  I think this is a useful verse.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.  God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
