Conquer the Greatest Sin!

THIS IS FROM "DAILY SUCCESS" A DAILY DEVOTION I RECEIVE. DAILY SUCCESS IS A MINISTRY OF THE INSTITUTE IN BASIC LIFE PRINCIPLES.

One day the president of a successful real estate company stood before his sales staff of about one hundred. After presenting several new properties, he stated, "My success story has been written up in a national business magazine. If you would like a copy, just see my secretary.''

A lightning bolt of dismay and tension struck the staff. Angry looks were exchanged, and murmuring began: " Who does he think he is?! We are the ones that made this company successful! It's our success story, not his."

That very afternoon several of his top sales men quit and formed their own company. Soon there was not enough money to close contracts, so the president used money from other escrow accounts, which is a federal offense. Within six months, the one-successful company was dissolved, and the president began serving a prison sentence, all because of the lack of one character quality-humility.

The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life. Proverbs 22:4.

Pride is the sin that God hates the most and punishes the swiftest. Pride caused Satan and a third of the angels to be cast out of heaven. Pride was the cause of Adam and Eve's dismissal from the Garden of Eden. It's also the the cause of our unrepentance over sin, which keeps God from blessing us with riches, honor, and life. "Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. Proverbs 8:13 God resists the proud and so do people. That is why conflicts are stirred up, because ''Only by pride cometh contention''. Proverbs 13:10.

Pride is putting ourselves on an equal level with God. It is reserving for ourselves the right to decide what is right or wrong. Our pride is what put Jesus on the cross. We are just like those who said,"We will not have this man reign over us.''

Pride is projecting on the outside what is not true on the inside. Today, lets conquer this primary hindrance to daily success by humbling ourselves before a holy God and making things right with all those whom we have offended. '' Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" Matthew 4:17

Our new school helper!

Today marked a new day in our homeschool! We have a new school helper! One of my mom's best friends, Mrs. Barbara, came to help us today with school. She is a retired teacher. She taught 3rd grade for 30 years!!!! We are all excited that she has agreed to come over and help us. She is working with Eli (2nd grade) and Nic (5th grade). She will come every Tuesday and spend the day with us. My Mom is able to work with me (9th grade) and Ethan (7th grade) for a long, uninterrupted, time. My Mom really needed this. It has been so hard having my Dad gone for so long and there is so much work for Mom to do. Having someone help us with our school is a blessing. We got a lot of work done today. Mrs. Barbara is wonderful to think of helping us in this way. She treats us like family. She has been such a blessing to us over the months that my Dad has been gone. She has watched the younger kids while my brother and my mom and I went Christmas shopping. She has helped with eye appointments and dentist appointments and has even come over to our house and made soup. She helped us when my Mom got very sick with the flu and also invited us to spend Thanksgiving with her and her family. We love her. I enjoy being homeschooled and having Mrs. Barbara come once a week to help makes it even more enjoyable! She is a great example of what Christians should do. She is generous with her time and energy. The Bible says, "He who is generous will be blessed." Proverbs 22:9a
I know Mrs. Barbara will be blessed for what she has done to help our family. Now I have to ask myself what am I doing to help someone? I am going to begin praying that the Lord will show me who I can help. The Bible instructs us to help others. Each and every day I am going to try to find someone to bless. I encourage you to do this also. We can begin right in our own families.

Hold Fast,
Colin

Fathers and Sons United Set (2 Books)

Fathers and Sons United Set (2 Books)

Yes, We're Moving!!!

About three weeks ago my Dad told us that we will be moving to Chattanooga for his job. (I apologize if this catches anyone off guard!) My Dad is a Terminal Trainmaster for Norfolk Southern. We are very excited about moving! This might sound strange, but we are looking forward to being back together as a family. For the last 16 months my Dad has been working in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Chattanooga. It has been very difficult for our family to live apart. There have been times when we have gone an entire month without being able to see our Dad, like when he was working in Pittsburgh. We are surely going to miss Knoxville, but we are only going to be two hours away. We thank God for my Dad's job. Many people are out of work and we are thankful that our God provided this job for Dad. Our house is currently on the market but ,we have not had a showing yet. It will be at least a month before it sells, or longer. I'm going to miss this house and my friends in this neighborhood. We are praying and asking God to show us the right house in Chattanooga. I am going to continue this blog through out the move and through out our time in Chattanooga. In Chattanooga, I will have to find a new church, guitar instructor, a house for our family, friends, a basketball team I can hopefully play for, and lots of other things. I am going to be praying that God will help us to find these things.
Matthew 6:33 says, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
This means to me, if you seek God first He will take care of the details of your life. How do we "seek first His kingdom"? We meet with God each day for prayer and Bible study, we trust Him, we love Him, we serve Him, we obey Him and we recognize our need for Him. Our focus needs to stay on God and not on the things of this world.

Hold Fast,
Colin

Scripture of the week...A Word From the Word

Psalm 119: 9-11

How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word. With all my heart I have sought Thee; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments. Thy word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against Thee.

My Family

Hello! My name is Colin. I am 15 and a home school student. I have decided to start this blog to write about my family and to give glory to God for the things He is doing in my life and the lives of my family members. I hope this blog will be an encouragement to those who read it.

1Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.
